Happy November everyone!! Hope it’s off to a great start!
It’s important to share that Grand Forks Public Schools has adopted the Olweus anti-bullying curriculum and is using it with our students in kindergarten – fifth grade. This program is designed to help each student and staff member understand the importance of treating others with respect and providing steps to implement if they witness someone being bullied.
Each classroom will have class meetings this year to help students understand this important concept and to provide support for each of us to become people of kindness and respect.
Teachers are also in training to help this important concept be a universal part of our district. Staff from all areas of the schools are a part of the anti-bullying team: custodians, lunchroom workers, secretaries, teachers and principals are all working together to keep our schools and our children safe and secure.
To learn more about what is happening in our schools, please join Sarah Shimek and Mary Adkins on November 27th at the Parent Information Center (in Lewis and Clark School) from 6:30-8:00 PM. Join us in helping create a positive environment for our children to grown and learn in.
